Keeping Your Medical Costs Down by Behaving Healthy

Have you ever thought about what you specifically do to help keep yourself healthy?In trying to change your behavior for the good of your health and to help keep future medical costs down, try this:

Take a week and write down everything you eat and do. At the end of that week review it.  Make a list of all of it. Beside each food that you ate or things you did, leave a blank. Every week, slowly change some of your bad habits. Write it down by the previous week’s behavior. This will help you get an idea of what bad habits you can eventually get rid of or not do as often.

  • Running late so you grab a burger, fries and a soda at the fast food place. Write down how many times a week you do this. Briefly put the circumstances of why you stopped there. The following week lessen the number of trips. Try to prevent the circumstances of running late. Making healthy food decisions instead of continually eating poorly can cost you down the road.
  • Make sure to write down how many hours a day you sit in front of the television. If it is a lot of hours, the following week watch television less and replace it with a walk around the block or some other healthy activity.
  • Write down all the times you are stressed out during the week. The next week, when you notice your stress level increasing, take deep breaths and think about how you can keep it lowered.

Most people just do not pay attention to their own behavior. Realizing it and what you can do to improve it will make for a much healthier lifestyle, most likely saving you money on future medical costs.
